Pixela was released on October 14, 2018, and now, on July 27, it have surpassed 10,000 registered users!

Thanks 10,000 users!!

The time required was 1,018 days. I would like to say thank you to the 10,000 people who used Pixela!

Whenever I saw such announcements about the number of registered accounts, I used to just let it go and say “oh well”, but now I understand how great it is. It’s great.

Pixela got off to a good start, with lots of traffic to the blog entry announcing the release. …However, the next two years were extremely slow. It was not uncommon for us to have zero user registrations for days on end.

This did not change significantly when I won awards at contests or exhibited at technical events.

However, what was very encouraging and happy for me was that so many people were developing and distributing information about Pixela, third party libraries and applications, probably with great enjoyment.

Being able to release the Patreon support feature in May 2019 was also a great support, both emotionally and financially.

In November of last year, Pixela reached a major turning point when it was used as a studying material for a programming learning site called appbrewery.

Later, Pixela was also used as a teaching tool in Udemy’s “100 Days of Code — The Complete Python Pro Bootcamp for 2021” course.

Since then, the average number of new users per day has remained stable at around 4,50. This is a trend that continues to this day, and I can only feel the amazing willingness of people all over the world to learn.

If I had to give myself some credit, it would be that I was able to provide the service in English from the very beginning, despite the fact that I am a Japanese who is not good at English. If I had not done this, I am sure that the fortunate events I have described would not have happened.

Since then, I have also started logo/icon sponsorship, and I have been able to receive enough support to cover the infrastructure costs of providing Pixela’s services so that I am no longer in the red.

The infrastructure costs are increasing little by little every month, so I’m sure Pixela will end up in the red again, but still, thanks to all of you who give us tangible and intangible support, I’ll be able to continue Pixela for a long time to come, unless there’s some unforeseen accident. I think I’ll be able to continue Pixela for a long time to come. Thank you soooooo much!!!

I haven’t been able to write much code for Pixela lately due to the birth of my child and a new job (but I think the recent update of the Retina feature is cool :D ), but I still have a lot of things I want to do. I hope you will continue to love Pixela for a long, long time.

Actually, I want to start a Pixela community.

One of the things I want to do is to start a Pixela community. A while ago, I thought I had to do that myself, but now I felt like asking you guys about it. Is there anyone who would be willing to help set up a Pixela community? :)

If anyone’s interested, please contact me! Thank you!
